The Project Engineer shall complete tasks to support the successful execution and delivery of projects. Additionally the Project Engineer shall provide technical support during the scope/proposal/bid stage. This role will also require the Project Engineer to support assigned projects. Supports and partners with the engineering team, operators, and management across multiple sites to maintain and continuously improve all aspects of the manufacturing operation. Aspects include safety, training, new equipment development, preventive maintenance development, process/equipment reliability, cost, and productivity.

Key Duties Include

Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Performs all work in a safe manner; promotes and fosters a safe work environment.
  • Study project plans, requirements and budgets.
  • Help plan and design project scope requirements.
  • Support new equipment start-ups to include SSW (System Standard of Work) creation and hands on training.
  • Improve plant efficiency through support of Kaizen events or continuous improvement activities.
  • Work within the project group to design complete operational systems and production lines.
  • Assist with preparing drawings and plans of project work.
  • Verify accuracy of measurements, materials specified, locations for placement of components.
  • Revise plans and drawings according to comments from regulatory agencies and other reviewers of plans.
  • Inspect work and report completion of work stages.
  • Provides engineering support in developing, improving and maintaining a maintenance program for all sites.
  • Identifies problems and/or areas for improvement with the manufacturing equipment, then develops/implements solutions.
  • Supports the computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Provides technical support during off-hours and weekends.
  • Leads training sessions.
  • Completes special projects.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

  • Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations and market demands. 
  • Responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of Compliance Management System. 
  • Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service.
  • Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience: BS in engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred) or related field, plus at least (3) three years of experience in capital projects, continuous improvement, mechanical engineering, and/or maintenance roles. Implementation experience with computerized maintenance management systems preferred. Work experience in a lean manufacturing environment with a demonstrated history of leading problem solving activities and projects preferred.

    Must have:

    • Technical experience which includes autonomous, predictive, preventive, and reactive maintenance programs for a high volume manufacturing operation.
    • Lean manufacturing skills to include waste identification, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, and MTBF.
    • Strong analytical skills using standard software packages, SAP, and maintenance management systems to identify opportunities and to validate holding improvement gains. PEMAC experience preferred
    • Proficiency with MS Office tools including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Strong skills in all facets of plant operations and maintenance with a strong emphasis on safety and overall equipment effectiveness.
    • Strong communication skills, effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
    • Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem solving ability.
    • Work in a team based environment.
    • Be flexible with hours worked, working "on call as needed" including evenings, early mornings, and weekends.
    • Set and manage multiple priorities.
    • AutoCAD or Solidworks experience preferred.
    • Experience with PSM and/or PSA preferred.

    Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write complex reports and correspondence. Must be able to communicate orally and written in English.

    Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures by using advanced math skills, applicable to and consistent with an engineering degree.

    Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in non-standardized situations.
